About George R. Brown Convention Center
The George R. Brown Convention Center opened on the east side of downtown Houston on September 26, 1987, and grew to 1.8 million square feet of total facility size with an expansion completed on December 3, 2003. It holds more than 700,000 square feet of prime exhibit space within 7 exhibit halls, including more than 500,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space, along with up to 88 configurable meeting rooms and a 31,000 square foot Grand Ballroom with semi-private pre-function space. The General Assembly seats 3,600 and divides into three theaters of 1,200 each. A 95,000 square foot concourse on Level 1 links the halls, and Avenida Plaza adds 99,000 square feet of outdoor, pedestrian-friendly event and leisure space. Floor plans are posted for each exhibit hall, ballroom and meeting room, and an event calendar lists upcoming shows. Exhibit move-in and move-out run only through designated loading docks, freight doors and freight elevators. Smart City Networks is the exclusive telecommunication and utility provider. The 1,200-room Hilton Americas-Houston headquarters hotel was built adjacent to the center, and garages around the building take ticketed parking paid at kiosks. Rated 4.5 from 7,973 Google reviews, 5,392 of them five stars.
